LumenLabel is a desktop app for creating labels and printing them with supported thermal label printers. It has three workspaces; Design for individual layouts, Data for labels generated from spreadsheet rows and Shipping for existing shipping PDFs. The work happens locally on your Mac or Windows PC.

LumenLabel is for people and small businesses that print labels regularly but do not want to manage a large business platform. That includes product, stock, barcode, name and existing shipping labels. The app does not buy postage or run a warehouse; it helps you create, prepare and print the labels themselves.

That depends on the exact printer model and connection you use. A similar brand name is not enough. Check whether your model is listed, then use the trial with your own printer, cable and label roll.

That depends on the model. For a supported printer, LumenLabel shows whether you can use USB, Bluetooth or your local network. Try the available connection with your own printer during the trial.

LumenLabel supports USB, Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Not every printer has all of these options. The printer page shows which connection you can select for that model.

LumenLabel runs on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 13 or later, and on PCs with Windows 10 or later. Intel Macs are not currently supported. One licence is intended for one Mac and one Windows PC together.

In the blue message, click More info and then Run anyway. LumenLabel for Windows is digitally signed, but Windows SmartScreen shows that message for any app that not many people have installed yet. It goes away as more people use LumenLabel. Only download the installer from lumenlabel.io.

Let the antivirus finish its check and then continue installing. Some scanners, such as Avast, want to inspect a program they do not know yet. The installation then pauses, sometimes a few times in a row. Every new version of LumenLabel is unknown to such a scanner again. All parts of the installer are digitally signed. If the installation does not get through, send us the name of your antivirus and the message you see.

Install version 0.5.6 or newer. In versions up to and including 0.5.5, a leftover folder from an earlier installation that no longer contains LumenLabel.exe could block a new installation, and the error message did not name that folder. From 0.5.6 the installer sets such a folder aside under a new name (an empty folder is removed) and the installation simply continues. If something still goes wrong, the message names the path. If you are using an older installer, delete or rename the folder C:\Program Files\LumenLabel and install again.

Yes. Since version 0.5.5 you can share a USB label printer with a second computer that has LumenLabel installed. You turn on sharing on the computer the printer is plugged into, create a pairing text and paste it on the second computer. After that you simply pick the printer from the printer list there.

On Windows, LumenLabel prints through the same printer entrance Windows itself uses wherever it can, so your existing programs can keep printing to that printer. For a printer Windows has no driver of its own for, LumenLabel takes the printer for one print job and hands it back afterwards. Test this during the trial with your own printer and your own software.

No. Printer sharing only works between computers on the same local network. Connections from outside, including VPN services such as Tailscale, are refused. That is a deliberate choice, so nobody can reach your printers from outside. The connection between the two computers is encrypted.

Two computers on the same network running the same version of LumenLabel, 0.5.5 or newer, and a supported printer plugged into one of them over USB. Both computers need an active licence or trial. The computer with the printer has to be on with LumenLabel running; the window may be closed.

In Design, you build a label using text, images, shapes, barcodes, QR codes, dates, sequences and built-in symbols. Set the label size and printer, check the 1-bit preview and save the design as a LumenLabel file so you can use it again later.

Yes. In Data, you open data from Excel, CSV, OpenDocument or Numbers and connect columns to elements on your label. You can then move through the rows, make a selection and print the corresponding labels in sequence. Save the data design and open it again later.

Yes. In Shipping, open one or more existing PDF files, choose or crop the pages you need, rotate them if necessary and print them on a supported label printer. LumenLabel does not buy a shipping label or create a shipment, so the PDF must already come from your carrier, online shop or shipping service.

The current app includes 25 barcode formats, covering widely used linear and 2D codes. The right code depends on what your scanner, carrier or supply chain expects. Always test a physical print with the scanner or workflow that will use it.

Yes. A regular design is saved as an .lld file and a data design as an .lldx file. Those files remain on your own computer and can be opened in LumenLabel again later. Keep any images and data sources safe as well when you manage them outside the LumenLabel file.

You get 7 days with the full app; Design, Data, Shipping and every printer profile supported at that time. It is not a limited demo. Enter your name and email address; no payment card is required. This lets you test your own printer, connection and label roll before buying.

LumenLabel has a one-time price of €39 for the first 100 sales. The price will be €59 from sale 101. There is no subscription. VAT is handled during checkout through Polar. Check the current price on the pricing page, as the introductory price and sales count can change.

One licence is intended for one Mac and one Windows PC together. You do not need to buy separate Mac and Windows versions. The licence is not intended to be shared across several Macs or several Windows PCs in a team.

You can design, process spreadsheet data, prepare shipping PDFs and print locally without an internet connection. Starting the trial, purchasing, activation and periodic licence checks do require internet access from time to time. Offline printing does not mean that the licence is never checked online.

No, not for normal design and printing. Your designs, spreadsheet data, PDFs and print processing remain local to your computer. The trial, purchase and licence do require limited account and activation details, such as your name and email address. Marketing email remains a separate choice.

An unlisted model is not yet supported, even if it looks very similar to another printer. Send LumenLabel the exact model, your operating system and the connection you want to use. That is useful research information, but not a promise that support will be added.
